6th International Symposium on Metastasis in Head and Neck Cancer
January 24 - 27, 2013
2012-12-10
Dear Colleagues,
I am very happy to invite you to our 6th International Symposium on Metastases in Head and Neck Cancer that takes place in Marburg from January 24-27, 2013. This time we will again discuss different questions of regional and also distant metastasis, the possibilities of their early detection, and the prognostic potential of lymph node metastases. We will discuss the provoking thesis that lymph node metastases cannot induce distant metastases and critically question the value of neck dissection on the prognosis. Within all these metastasis-related topics we will insert a real highlight of modern medicine, the transoral robotic surgery. We will offer a first contact to this new technology in the context of a hands-on training.
You will see that real controversies and innovations are presented that make the participation in this meeting an interesting event. Beside the medical and ENT-related aspects, we hope that the social events taking place in the evenings will be used as occasions to continue discussions on a more informal level and to perhaps initiate further cooperation, but most of all to allow you to recover from “a long day’s journey into the night”.
The whole team of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, would like to welcome you and wish you enjoyable and interesting days here in Marburg!
Jochen A. Werner
Symposium Chairman
